Common & Uncommon
For decades, Golden Vision Optometry has fitted patients throughout California with top contact brands to make daily vision correction convenient and easy. We carry a wide selection of brands and types.
Contact lenses can be a convenient solution for many vision problems. Specialty contact lenses allow more patients access to a glasses-free lifestyle. Contact lenses can provide a solution for common and uncommon eye problems, including:
- Astigmatism
- Digital eye strain
- Dry eye
- Hyperopia (farsightedness)
- Keratoconus
- Myopia (nearsightedness)
Contact Lens Types
We carry multiple contact lens types and brands. Some of our contact lens options include RGP, hybrid, and scleral lenses. We also offer soft contact lenses, including MiSight and Abiliti, for myopia control.

Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP)
Rigid gas permeable (RGP) contacts are made durable with limited flexibility, which is why RGP lenses are sometimes called hard contacts. While soft contact lenses are disposable, RGP lenses are designed for long-term use. Additionally, RGP lenses typically provide sharper vision.
RGP lenses sometimes require a longer adaptation period compared to soft lenses. To maintain tolerance, RGP lenses must be worn consistently.
Ortho-k lenses are a type of RGP lens for myopia control. Wearing ortho-k lenses consistently is crucial for achieving the full benefits.
Hybrid
Hybrid contact lenses combine features of RGP and soft contact lenses. The center is firm like an RGP lens, providing patients with sharper vision correction. The outer skirt is flexible and allows for a closer, more comfortable fit, similar to a soft contact lens.
Patients who are poor candidates for soft contact lenses can sometimes be good candidates for hybrid lenses. For example, patients with higher degrees of astigmatism or cornea conditions may require RGP lenses to correct vision but prefer the comfort of soft contact lenses. With hybrid lenses, patients can experience both.
Scleral
Scleral contact lenses are similar to an RGP lens but with unique design features. Traditional contact lenses rest on the cornea (the front surface of the eye). Scleral lenses have a larger diameter and vault over the cornea, instead resting on the sclera (the white part of the eye).
Scleral lenses are custom-fitted and can help many patients with hard-to-fit eyes, including patients with cornea conditions like keratoconus. The design allows for a moisture reservoir, improving cornea hydration for patients with dry eyes. As the lens does not touch the cornea, the design also promotes surface healing.
Color Lenses
While contact lenses are primarily a resource for vision correction, contacts can also enhance your look. Colored or tinted lenses can change your eye color or make your natural color stand out. Golden
Vision Optometry carries a broad selection of shades, including green, blue, hazel, violet, amethyst, gray, and brown. We carry specialized contact lens tints, including:
- Visibility: A subtle tint allows your colored contacts to be seen more easily
- Enhancement: Boost your natural eye color and make it brighter
- Opaque: Completely change the color of your eye
